The current works come about from direct observation of specific places and times in Wisconsin. I then distill these images into my own perception of place and paint the feel of what is there, while enjoying playing with light and color. They do not have fences, barns or any human contact imagery and if animals are included, they hopefully draw you into their space to share a bit of the magic of it all, rather than serving as iconic "prey" or "wild deer" archetypes. They are in fleeting portrait as valid as you or me.
I am told I bring some of my illustrative sensibilities to my oil work; I would not disagree.
